I was disturbed at tonight's members meeting to see that tucked away at the end of the business plan, was 'to outsource membership and ticket sales. This appears to be a done deal with details already worked out, although these were not included in the document given out at the meeting. Apparently no season ticket books but a swipe cards used to enter the ground. In addition, match tickets for cup or all ticket games will be sold through an agency with a premium to be paid for the privilege. We were told it would be cost neutral. As a previous volunteer sorting /selling /posting season tickets and match tickets along with numerous other volunteers I find this difficult to believe. As volunteers meeting members /fans on the phone and in person, meant that we were able to solve problems and engage with fans. I somehow doubt a private company would do this! The negative cost was also due in part by the company being a sponsor but not paying for that. I think the figure of £10,000 was mentioned. In the light ofnot only cost, but also the principle of charging fans a premium to purchase tickets, I feel that this should have been put to members before being agreed. Transparency at work again.

Nobody will pay a premium to buy a ticket, unless you count a few minutes on a 7p a minute phone line and a pound to deliver as a 'premium'

Why not have the sponsorship of £10,000 injected in to the Club and volunteers carry on distributing tickets and operating the turnstiles as before? I thought cash flow was the most important issue?

Such a low turnout for such a supposedly important meeting says everything about the Club these days. Nobody cares apart from the ever shrinking numbers of the cabal at the heart of it. Anyone who dares ask any questions or makes observations just gets flippant replies from the chairman.
The fact that Members are reassured by a few calculations on the back of a cigarette packet is incredible. The emperor's clothes story comes to mind.

A bit like a Conservative minister on Question Time - a lot of waffle and sidestepping when asked direct questions!

The delusion and denial continues on the other forums. They cannot accept that they have played their part in the destruction of the Club and they continue to believe that a few more season tickets will make everything OK.
Time to plan your DIY jobs.
